Kramden Institute Awards Computers to Deserving CHILDREN.

KRAMDEN INSTITUTE GIVES AWAY COMPUTERS TO CHILDREN OF ST MATTHEW

On Saturday, many students were given re-furbished computers--thanks to the Kramden Institute which re-furbishes computers and give them to children who need them. We must thank Mrs. Jennifer Hicks Robinson for her fore-sight in making this happen. With the assistance of the Triangle chapter of the LINKS, and the local chapters of KAPPA ALPHA PSI FRSTERNITY,Inc, and many member-volunteers of St. Matthew, an orderly operation was run to everyone's satisfaction.

Specific criteria had been established by Mrs. Robinson and everything ran smoothly. Parents had a waiting room, were assigned to volunteers who showed the children ( in the presence of a parent) how to connect and disconnect the equipment plugged into the computer. They were given a quick tour of the computer and were told how to get help if needed. After receiving the setup ( computer, keyboard, mouse, flat screen monitor) the child and parent stood on line to be checked out by a "checkout squad". The last act was to have the child's photo taken holding a certificate which stated that the person had been awarded the computer and that the expectations were that they GOT ALL ACES in their school work from now on--having all the tools to make this possible.

Again, we thank Mrs. Robinson for helping our children and other children in the community. We arrived at the Fellowship Hall at 7:35AM and already the room was setup. Mrs. Robinson ,and a few others, were probably there by 6:30AM.

The recipients were asked to write a thank you note to the Kramden Institute for awarding them the computers.

We thank the Kappa brothers for hauling the computers where they were needed. They were with us every step of the way. Thanks,too, to the LINK sisters for their instructions on how and why and when.

We thank God that he had let those people who made this possible, cross our paths to accomplish this most interesting task.
This was an exceptional project and I'm glad I could participate.
