Pastor Moss
We welcome you!
Minister Trish Harleston
Speaker Trish Harleston
THE VIEW FROM MY PEW On Sunday, September 27th, the Union Bethel AME Church of Cary celebrated its first Women's Day under its new pastor, the Reverend Kim Moss, formerly of St. Matthew AME Church. A few of us attended the 3PM service where the Reverend Trish Harleston of Orange Grove Baptist Church of Durham was the speaker.
Reverend Trish Harleston is a dynamic speaker who reminded me of the Reverend Dr. Vashi McKensie Murphy, our first female bishop. Back in the day, female clergywomen were not glamorous at all--in fact they didn't draw any attention to their femininity. Not so, today! The are indeed glamour and extremely charismatic. Her sermon was definitely in support of women.
The choir from Orange Grove shared the loft with the Union Bethel choir. Both sang selections that were highly entertaining and spiritual.
Let me add that Soror Kim and Soror Trish are members of the Durham Alumnae Chapter as were other members of the choir.
We were happy to be a part of a successful venture.
